![]() Last year, we began a partnership with NBA player Moe Harkless on a joint commitment in support of bail and incarceration reform, including support of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) and his organization, Black Lives Now.We have increased our investment in education, behavioral change, and hiring practices to create greater representation, access to opportunities, and fair treatment for all at The Prisoner Wine Company and within the wine industry. This place is more of a hype than anything. But I could easily get two bottles of the red blend with two people tasting fees. Yes, I did find both their cab and the red blend delicious. We did get free bubbles and one small appetizer to celebrate our anniversary. I must've asked the server more than once to remind me of the name of the wine. Within 30 seconds, all four glasses are now filled with wines without recollection of what was what. Then the server proceeded to pour the wine with very minimal background/story about the bottle. First, you arrive at your table with four empty wine glasses. ![]() The tasting experience here was different. But a $65/p tasting with service charges already included for 2? This was our 2nd stop after visiting Buena Vista (5 stars review by me!) in Sonoma. I was a bit sticker shocked! I am from NYC, where things are also expensive. After picking an available time slot for the day, we paid over $160 over the phone for two wine tastings. I placed us on the waitlist and was surprised to get a call back on our way to Sonoma (French Laundry never called us back - p). It was a very last-minute decision, so needless to say there weren't a lot of options left by the time I was looking into a reservation. We were visited SF for our anniversary and decided to spend a night in Sonoma/Napa. Those are pretty good, but if you're looking for a tasting experience, look elsewhere. The wines themselves weren't great, except for their red blends. We could've each bought an entire bottle to share it and have $ to spare and it would've been the same since we got nothing beyond what you could read on the bottle. For $90 a person this was INCREDIBLY overpriced and disappointing. She'd leave for 5-10 minutes at a time with little interaction when she was there, just as you'd expect from a waitress. We were about halfway through our poured amounts when we were able to snag her long enough and get her to tell us at least the basics of the wine, and before we could ask any follow up, she was gone. After about 5 minutes she showed up with fried rice ball but again, no explanation if it was supposed to go with anything or what the wines were. We had no explanation of any of the wines, so eventually we just started tasting them. ![]() I call her a waitress intentionally, because there was no hosting done. We were sat down at the table with the wine glasses already filled and the waitress left. There was a curtain, but they never shut it. It was completely open to the rest of the echoey main area. We had a "private" tasting in which we were taken to a table that may as well have been in the hallway. That wine is really good, but the tasting experience was awful. We went there during our trip to Napa Valley because one person in our party loved the red blend.
